In this work, I have allowed my imagination to run free in order to picture a world as it may have been before humans started their destruction of the environment.
The vibrancy and purity of the colours in a landscape untouched by people, surrounded by pristine waters with only the birds to enjoy it, is a dream that today, only comes to life on the artist’s canvas.
In fact, in today’s world, we struggle to find the birds but through art, we can still imagine the Old World.
Let’s all dream and just maybe, we can make the world a better place.
Even if I have yet to visit all the famous mountains and great rivers of the world, I have travelled a lot and left countless footprints. Wherever I visited is a source of inspiration. The wild, unspoiled beauty of nature entered my mind to become a memory for future reminiscence and the snapshots I took captured a moment which I have collaged into my paintings.
By incorporating something real and tangible in my creation I have attempted to present the sharp contrast between the grandeur of nature and the insignificance of the humans who venture into the Wilderness.
A long hot summer’s day merges into evening as the sun sits on the horizon. The land still shimmers in the heat and life is slow as even the birds rest on warm, limpid waters. The sky is tinged with gold as the sun sinks lower and expectations are stirred for what the cool of evening may bring. In this work, I have stretched the use of ink colours to achieve the soft hues I was seeking from my brushwork to create the warmth of feeling that Eventide stirs.
